Inner-City Games Philadelphia, one of 15 affiliates of the Inner-City
Games Foundation, which Arnold Schwarzenegger serves as National
Chairman, will host a celebrity auction party during The NBA's
Allstar Weekend. Created to help expand its programs in
Philadelphia's under serviced neighborhoods, Inner-City Games
Philadelphia will hold an exciting auction of exclusive items
including the HUMMER H2 (being seen on the East Coast for the first
time at this event) and 76er superstar Allen Iverson's autographed
NBA Allstar uniform and Reebok footwear. The evening will also
feature a performance by hip-hop pioneers RUN DMC.
"We are very excited to auction off the very first of 60 HUMMER H2
sport utility vehicles that General Motors will donate to the
Inner-City Games Foundation over the next five years. Our
organization is powerful proof of what the public and private sectors
can accomplish together. With partners like HUMMER and Reebok, we can
continue to raise funds and provide educational and sports programs
for underprivileged kids that teach discipline and sportsmanship,"
said Schwarzenegger.
"Reebok is proud to be a sponsor of the Inner-City Games Celebrity
Auction during All-Star Weekend," said John Lynch, vice president of
sports marketing for Reebok. "Sports are a great outlet for kids to
be involved in because it teaches many skills used in every day
life."
The Inner-City Games Philadelphia celebrity auction party will be held
Friday, February 8, at Philadelphia's premiere restaurant and jazz
club Zanzibar Blue. Attending the gala will be Iverson and teammate
Aaron McKie, who join Russell Simmons as honorary chairmen of the
event, and 76ers General Manager Billy King, who is an event
co-chair. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban will handle auctioneer
duties and is expected to make the auction an unforgettable event.
There are many more surprises and celebrity guests lined up, which
will be announced soon.
"We are very excited to be teaming up with Inner-City Games and the NBA
Allstars to auction off one of our first 2003 H2 SUVs," said Michael
C. Digiovanni, HUMMER general manager. "The HUMMER team is proud
that the money raised in our first H2 SUV auction can help the kids
of Philadelphia strive for excellence."
