MODEL UPDATE
GM plans to add this H3 to its Hummer lineup next year as a 2006 ½ model. Based on the chassis used by the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups, the H3 fits below both the H1 and H2 in the Hummer price (and size) lineup. The engine will be the same 3.5-liter, five-cylinder inline currently used in the Colorado.
From the photos here, it appears the new Hummer will be a much more refined vehicle - at least in exterior styling - than either of its big brothers. Still, it is easy to spot the resemblance, including the upright windshield, flat rear hatch, high ground clearance and nearly flat roof.
The five-cylinder - derived from TrailBlazer/Envoy inline six - will team with a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic to deliver four-wheel-drive traction. Prices are expected to be in the mid-$30,000 range.
